Here’s the facelifted 2016 Chevrolet Equinox, which will debut later today at the Chicago Auto Show with a fresh face and new features. Going on sale this fall, Chevrolet’s second-best selling vehicle in North America after Silverado also gets new wheel designs, a larger color touchscreen radio and a standard rear-vision camera for entry-level models.

However, the most significant update is the new front end, which sports new headlights, a new front fascia with chrome-accented dual-port design and new fog lamps. At the rear, the 2016 Equinox sports slightly revised dual-element taillights, revised license plate applique and revised lower rear fascia.

The cabin stays largely the same, with the exception of the new standard 7-inch Color Touch radio (including Bluetooth phone connectivity) and rear-vision camera. The center stack gets a new storage shelf and updated control graphics, with other additions being the Saddle Up interior color and the enhanced interior fabrics.

Nothing changes under the hood, with the 2016 Chevrolet Equinox being offered with the same standard Ecotec 2.4-liter direct-injected engine that produces 182hp or an optional 3.6-liter V6 that delivers 301hp and 272lb-ft (369 Nm) of torque. With the standard engine and front-wheel drive, the 2016 Equinox delivers an EPA-estimated 32 mpg (7.3 l/100 km) on the highway.

All-wheel drive is also offered on LS, LT and LTZ models. Speaking of trims, Chevrolet has reorganized the lineup for 2016, with the Equinox being available with four trim levels: L, LS, LT and LTZ (1LT and 2LT trims have been eliminated).

LT and LTZ models get Chevrolet MyLink as standard, while OnStar with 4G LTE connectivity and built-in Wi-Fi hotpot is offered on all trim levels. Safety features include the available Side Blind Zone Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Forward Collision Alert and Lane Departure Warning.
