Prepare yourself for what is being described as an action-adventure comedy which will center around self-driving cars. It’s going to be called “Driverless Car Race” and it’s set to be directed by Gore Verbinski, whom you may know as the guy behind the Pirates of the Caribbean series and The Weather Man starring Nicolas Cage.

The new movie promises to be funny and action packed, according to the director, who was quoted as saying that “essentially, we are going to take the funniest comedic actors of this generation and slowly unleash them as we examine the very notion of ‘passengers’ who fundamentally cannot remain passive.”

His statement was completed by that of movie screenwriter Steve Conrad, the man who will be giving context and color to the whole self-driving car race basic plot idea.

Conrad said: “We want to invert the whole premise of a road trip where the promise has always been, ‘anything can happen’, and say, ‘what if anything can’t happen’? What does that do to the test subject? What are the breaking points?”

So the basic idea behind the movie revolves around the first ever autonomous car race, from Paris to Beijing, but it quickly gets out of hand in typical American movie fashion…

No word on when it comes out, though.
