I’m sure no one had any doubts about the Mercedes-Benz G500 4×4² show car’s off-road capabilities, but it’s one thing reading about what the vehicle can do and a completely different thing seeing it in action.

That’s why Mercedes-Benz has released a video in which the G63 AMG 6×6’s smaller and more conventional sibling blasts through mountains, river beds and even caves with remarkable ease. It’s as if the Merc is frustrated that’s all nature can throw at it.

Remember that the Mercedes-Benz G500 4×4² has a ground clearance of 450mm (17.7in), more than double the regular model’s 210mm (8.3in). This makes it capable to drive through 1-meter (39.4in) deep water. The G500 4×4² also boasts an improved approach angle of 52 degrees and departure angle of 54 degrees.

The vehicle rides on new 22-inch rims shod with 325/55 tyres or on optional special off-road 18-inch beadlock wheels like the ones in the video. The latter are obviously what off-road fanatics will go for if Mercedes-Benz decides to build the G500 4×4².
