A 63-year old woman, who somehow drove her early 2000s BMW M3 E46 Coupe off Waitemata Harbour in New Zealand, is lucky to be alive after two quick-thinking cops smashed her window and saved her.

Reports mention that the BMW went flying over the ferry terminal carpark wall on Wednesday afternoon, with the car rapidly submerging into the water. Lucky for her, there were two officers and a bystander named Erwin Kampos on the spot to help.

“I saw the BMW … it just went straight down,” Mr Kampos told 9News. “The two police officers smashed the back windscreen, I tried to smash the side, and the sides didn’t want to break. They were running out of time because the water was filling up.”

In the dramatic photographs, the woman is pictured crumpled up on the rear window.

“The officer smashed the back window and dragged the lady out and dragged her up to safety,” Kampos said. “No good just leaving somebody there.”
