Audi is really proud of its highly successful R18 e-Tron model, so much so that it’s now been made available for some journos/racing drivers to have a go in. The video posted here details Randy Pobst’s experience with the latest evolution of the R18 which he gets to drive on the Misano track in Italy.

He’s MotorTrend’s resident racing driver, and before he’s let loose in the Le Mans winner, he does a few laps in the hardcore R8 Ultra GT racer to get a feel for the track. Next up is the R18, a racing car with a dizzying array of no fewer than 32 buttons on the steering wheel.

It’s definitely a privilege for Pobst to get a chance to drive the car that’s said to be valued at $30 million. And it seems it really lives up to the hype created around it – it’s obviously hugely fast, even if it’s not as dramatic as a petrol powered car. It still sounds racy, even if it always seems like the driver is short-shifting.
