Nissan built the 200,000th vehicle at its A2 manufacturing facility located in the state of Aguascalientes, Mexico, only 16 months after production started.

The milestone car built at the Aguascalientes A2 plant was a red Nissan Sentra SR with an Xtronic transmission and a 1.8-liter engine, which will be shipped to its owner in Chicago, Illinois.

Nissan says it has used a total of 239 million auto parts, 80,000 tons of steel sheets and 1.2 million liters of paint over 6.6 million working hours to achieve the production milestone.

Every 55 seconds, a Nissan Sentra rolls off the production line at both plants in Aguascalientes. The 200,000 units produced so far have been shipped to three main destinations: the United States (181,600 units), Brazil (17,400 units) and Puerto Rico (1,000 units). The cars had 98 different specifications and 13 colors.

In February 2015, Nissan Sentra sales in Canada and the US rose 16.4 and 24.4 percent, respectively. In Brazil, Sentra saw 111-percent sales growth.

The 2015 Nissan Sentra is powered by a 1.8-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine rated at 130hp and 128lb-ft (173Nm) of torque. The engine is offered with an Xtronic CVT, while a 6-speed manual is available on the base Sentra S model. Prices start from $16,480 for the base Sentra S with a six-speed manual gearbox (excluding an $825 destination charge).
