Top Fuel dragster driver Larry Dixon suffered a horrific crash when his ride failed on him and hurled itself into the air. This is arguably one of the most spectacular crashes of this kind in recent memory, so we’re glad to report Dixon suffered no injuries.
He was immediately checked by the NHRA’s emergency unit at the drag strip, but he was deemed fit to be released right there on the spot.
The crash took place during the first qualifying session at the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals, in Gainesville, Florida.
Check out the crash footage posted after the virtual jump; be warned, though, that it’s quite shocking to watch, even if you know beforehand that the driver will walk away unscathed.
