We’re down to 19 races for the 2015 Formula One season, as the Nurburgring and Hockenheim have pulled out of negotiations with the FIA, for this year at least.

Knowing that the Nurburgring would be unable to host the German GP in July, Bernie Ecclestone had been in talks with Hockenheim, hoping to get a deal done and give the likes of Mercedes AMG Petronas, Nico Rosberg or Sebastian Vettel the chance to score some points at home.

However, Hockenheim circuit boss Georg Seiler was quoted saying “We do not expect a grand prix to take place at Hockenheim in 2015. The timing for a commitment passed long ago, so a serious organization of the Grand Prix is no longer possible.”

Apparently, if Germany doesn’t host a race in 2015, the July 19 slot won’t be filled, turning what was to be a 20-race calendar year into one with just 19 events.

Of course, losing Germany isn’t a huge blow, as 19 races are still more than enough to satisfy even the biggest Formula 1 fans out there. Still, that’s not to say that like them, we wouldn’t have enjoyed seeing this years’ drivers take their talents to the technical Nurburgring or to the fast Hockenheim track.

If we were to look back to the last time Germany didn’t host an F1 race, we’d have to go back to 1960. So, a dangerous precedent perhaps?
