A lot of people are still wondering how the Koenigsegg Regera’s drivetrain is working and I can’t blame them.
Koenigsegg’s Direct Drive is one of the most discussed features of the insane 1500hp Regera; instead of a traditional gearbox with ratios and all, the Direct Drive allows the combustion engine and the three electric motors to…drive directly the rear axle with a fixed final ratio. With two of the electric motors mounted directly to the rear wheels and the other one providing torque fill to the heavily turbocharged engine, Koenigsegg claims that has reduced drivetrain losses by over 50%.
