A few months ago, a very good point was made regarding the way in which the Lexus LF-C2 Concept looks. Is it too much “flash” and too little “substance”?

That’s what we thought when we first saw it at the 2014 LA Auto Show. That grille, those rims, that color – it’s as if Lexus is only trying to attract a certain type of, let’s say, extremely wealthy consumer.

Which is fair, since Lexus is a premium brand. But they’ve always been associated with practical people too, you can’t forget about those.

Now on to the good things. The Lexus LF-C2 Concept is by no means a bad looking car. On the contrary, its supple and dynamic design lines make this an almost overwhelmingly good looking 2+2 convertible. Imagine it in white with a set of dark rims. Or as the 21st century philosopher Jay-Z would say, just “all-black everything”, that would work too.

And since this car is just a design exercise in favor of a potential RC Convertible, we can safely assume that it will be properly “propelled” as far as performance is concerned.

If mood suits, imagine a 477 HP RC F Convertible. It would most likely keep its 0-62 mph time of less than 5 seconds (4.5 to be precise), but there’s no telling what the added weight will do to the sprint time.

Still, does Lexus need to do something about that grille, or is it just us?
