They say, first impressions count, and if that’s true, my first impression upon seeing the new Lincoln Continental Concept this morning was of a car that feels very Bentley-ish in its design.

I’m sure you can find some irony in the fact that Bentley has a car named the Continental Flying Spur in its range…

Apparently, looking through your comments in Dan’s piece on the Lincoln, I’m not alone in the Bentley approach.

It’s not that it looks bad, because it doesn’t, sans the overuse of chrome in the interior that’s a bit too 1960s and 1970s-inspired for my taste buds, and it’s refreshing that Lincoln is finally ready to move away from the ridiculous mustache-comb-grille that it’s been using for years, but from these exterior pictures, I can’t remove that picture of a Bentley Continental FS-VW Phaethon-Ford Taurus mishmash from my head…
