Mercedes G63 AMG 6×6 Reportedly Sold Out

You can no longer buy a 6×6 version of Mercedes’ mad G63, a car specifically designed for you, if your royal title begins with an “s” (shah, sheikh or sultan). It seems there are plenty of all three out there, as Mercedes has reportedly built more than 100 of them in total and the entire production run has sold out.

According to GT Spirit, which obtained information about the 6×6’s production run, that’s actually more than the firm was initially planning to make. The final vehicle is expected to be manufactured in May.

However, it didn’t need to be this exclusive. They could have just kept the body, the suspension and general idea, but ditched the V8 for a diesel engine. This could have made for an excellent workhorse, even if it would still have ended up being expensive – something closer to the vehicle that inspired it, commissioned for the Australian Army, would have been cooler for people who don’t extract oil for a living…

Don’t fret, though, as you’ll still be able to get a mad and capable V8-powered off-roader with exclusive genes – the upcoming G500 4×4² which is much-much cheaper than the nearly €400,000 / ~$450,000 you need to pay for the 6×6 (at least).
