The Porsche Cayman GT4 (pictured) is already a very enticing driving machine that takes the model name tag to new performance heights. It has the full 3.8-liter engine and makes 385 PS / 380 hp and with it the car sprints to sixty in 4.2 seconds.

However, EVO tells us that an even hotter RS version of the GT4 could be in the works. The magazine says it heard the boss of Porsche Motorsport, Andreas Preuninger, hint at such a version while at the Geneva motor show.

Working on the Cayman is new for the team behind it, whose experience was concentrated on fiddling with the larger 911, but now that they’ve started there would be no reason to stop, would there?

I mean so what if it starts to leave lesser 911s behind, the possible Cayman GT4 RS would be an awesome car, and one that they held back from making all these years precisely to keep the 911 as the king of the sports car range.

The source suggests that the RS would be lighter and more powerful, although no specifics are given. It’ won’t be much more power or much less weight, but being Porsche, all the little changes will add up… and still not justify the price you’ll be asked to pay over the regular GT4.

The GT4 RS will only be made on customer demand; Preuninger explained that “we underestimated the success of the Cayman GT4, which shows that we were right with the concept. In England, within three days two years of cars were sold. It happened in Sweden, it happened in Germany…everywhere.”
