The Tesla Model S P85D is heavier and has less power than an F12 Berlinetta. However, the Ferrari cannot escape the limitations of rear-wheel drive when getting off the line, an instance when the Tesla is the faster accelerating machine.

Once the rears stop slipping, the F12 sails past the Model S with ease, but it’s still a pretty impressive feat on the Tesla’s side; it just can’t match it once they’re up and running and the Ferrari starts going up through the gears.

In the end, physics made the outcome predictable even before watching the video – you knew the EV was going to dart off the line and have the Ferrari play catchup for the first part of the race.
