A few months ago, we were all a little surprised by seeing the LaFerrari edge out the mighty Veyron in a 1/4 mile drag race. In fact, many of you were already talking about the Veyron’s successor.

Perhaps we should have had more faith in this amazing 1,001 HP all-wheel driven machine, as this latest video now proves that all that power that the LaFerrari is sending towards its rear wheels doesn’t always make for the most efficient getaway.

Even so, this drag race wasn’t decided that early as you can clearly see the Veyron pulling ahead constantly up until the very end of the straight.

The LaFerrari scored 332 km/h (206 mph) while the Bugatti 345 km/h (214 mph) at the 2 mile marker speed traps. Later on, the Veyron went at it again (this time no Ferrari) and hit 361 km/h.

Regardless of how you look at it, this is one very evenly matched battle. The LaFerrari is around 500kg lighter and down on power only by about 50 HP. Normally it should obliterate the Veyron (as long as we’re not talking about the 1,200 PS Super Sport version), but as it would seem, that’s not exactly the case.

Even though the dawn of the hybrid hypercar is here, the “dinosaur” isn’t exactly ready to move aside for the likes of the LaFerrari, P1 or 918 Spyder.
