Audi’s New Prologue Allroad Concept Is A Crossover Hatch You Might Just Like

For its third Prologue concept model after the coupe variant in LA and the five-door Avant in Geneva, Audi decided to create an Allroad version that was presented at this week’s Shanghai Auto Show.

Unsurprisingly, the Prologue Allroad is heavily based on the Prologue Avant receiving an additional 77mm of ground clearance together with an assortment of new styling details to give it a more rugged look.

These include the flared wheel wells with dark plastic cladding that runs on the side sills and under the bumpers as well, chunky 22‑inch wheels, and aluminum accents present on the roof rails, mirror housings, around the windows and both the front and rear ends of the car.

Power for the study comes courtesy of a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 mated to an electric motor within an 8speed dual-clutch automatic producing a combined output of 734PS (724hp) and 900 Nm (663.8 lb-ft) of system torque.

Like the Prologue Avant, the Allroad is neither a Sportback nor a true Avant, but something in between – we believe Honda called it the CrossTour and BMW the Gran Turismo, but if you ask us, Audi’s version of this body-style looks better to the eye than either one.

We don’t think the market is ready for a production car the size / category of the Prologue Allroad that measures 5,130mm long (202 in.) placing it in A8 territory, but don’t be surprised if Audi presents something similarly flavored in the A4 and/or A6 segments in the near future.
