Who would have thought that a stock Ford Fiesta ST would be this good on a snowy rally stage?

This unmodified example was deliberately taken outside its tarmac comfort zone in order to see how it coped – the short answer is it did really well, as you’ll see in the Automobile Magazine video below.

The Fiesta is widely regarded as being one of the best and most fun small hot hatches that you can buy. Yet it can apparently deal with gravel and snow at fairly high speeds; the front-wheel drive rally variant it spawned uses the same engine, but different suspension and tires.

The moral behind this test is not that the Fiesta ST is great at going fast through not ideal conditions, but the fact that while it’s so good on the road, it can also handle something else too. If you needed more reasons to like the Fiesta, scroll to the video below.
