The Cadillac ATS-V has arrived and Motor Trend gives us their first impressions of the M3-rivalling performance model.

Cadillac wants the ATS-V to give the BMW M3 / M4 and Mercedes C63 AMG a really hard time which sounds like a big challenge to us. Propelled by a twin-turbo 3.6-litre V6 which produces 464hp and 444lb-ft (601Nm) of torque and is expected to be used in the next Camaro, the ATS-V is capable of 0-60 (96km/h) takes just 3.8 seconds with a top speed of 189mph (304km/h) for the coupe version.

Transmission-wise, a six speed manual gearbox is offered next to same eight-speed automatic the Corvette uses, featuring among other a launch control function. Also derived from the latest Corvette is the electronic limited-slip differential while the suspension features the third generation of the Magnetic Ride Control.

So the 464hp ATS-V has not only more power than the M3 / M4, but also sprinkled with all the proper bits to make it a proper threat to the Bavarian icon. Does it deliver?

Head to the video and find out.
