New 2016 Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition Pays Homage To C7.R Racecar

While the 2016 Corvette Z06 is pretty much the road-going version of the Corvette C7 R racecar, Chevrolet wanted to associate it even more to the competition model.

The 2016 Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition is an homage to the Corvette Racing C7.R racecars that will be built in a limited edition of 500 units. All of them will be offered in Corvette Racing’s signature yellow livery (or black), with coordinated exterior and interior accents.

Going on sale later this year, all models will include the Z07 Performance Package with carbon ceramic brakes, as well as a specially serialized vehicle identification number.

Other exterior features that distinguish the Z06 C7.R Edition from regular Z06 models include a graphics package, yellow brake calipers, black wheels with yellow accent strip and Corvette Racing-logo center caps, visible carbon fiber ground effects package, new visible carbon fiber hood section, as well as grilles and vents finished in Spectra Gray Metallic.

Inside, the special edition model gets a Jet Black leather cabin with suede microfiber accents on the instrument panel and doors, suede microfiber-trimmed Competition Sport Seat, steering wheel and shifter, yellow contrast stitching throughout the interior, carbon fiber interior trim package and Corvette Racing sill plates.

“Corvette Racing’s legacy and technology were significant influences on the development of the Corvette Z06 and the new C7.R Edition honors the direct link between the racecar and the production model,” said Harlan Charles, Corvette product and marketing manager.

Besides the Z06 C7.R Edition, updates for the 2016 Corvette Z06 include a new, available front curb view parking camera, power-cinching hatch/trunk latch, as well as new available design packages.

Looks very good – but really I would be very excited to see a new ZR1 rather than more special editions
