Mad Max is all about the cars and all about being mad and not caring about anything but your own survival. The movie’s all-important atmosphere is heavily reliant on the chaos that often ensues on screen, and one key component of what makes a Mad Max movie tick are the car chases and eventual inevitable explosive crashes.

According to this video from The Verge, Mad Max movies have a unique way of handling these chases, which don’t actually follow the usual set rules. Usually, chases of any kind (on foot or in cars) have a clear sequence of events that happen culminating with any number of predictable endings.

The upcoming Fury Road movie looks like it has all of the above, with an extra dose of computer-enhanced visual candy. The original movies’ colors were by no means this vivid, quite the contrary, but this new next-gen look really lends itself well to the desert setting and makes everything but the background really pop.
