PSA Peugeot Citroën’s luxury brand DS has announced that the recently-refreshed DS 3 lineup will be available with the EAT6 latest generation six-speed automatic transmission.

The EAT6 transmission will be offered as an option for the DS 3 fitted with the PureTech110 three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. DS says the new automatic gearbox provides faster and smoother gear shifts, enhancing drivability, response and acceleration.

Furthermore, EAT6 contributes to lower consumption figures: 4.7 l/100 km (60.1 mpg UK or 50 mpg US) for the DS 3 hatchback and 4.9 l/100 km (57.6 mpg UK or 48 mpg US) for the DS Cabrio. Corresponding CO2 emissions are 108 g/km and 112 g/km, respectively.

Compared with the DS 3 VTi 120 automatic version it replaces, the PureTech110 EAT6 in hatchback body style emits 42 g/km less CO2, a reduction of 28 percent.

DS says the market share of automatic-transmission versions in the B2 premium segment had risen by 5 percent in some countries by early 2015, which is why it decided to release the new automatic version for the DS 3. The EAT6 transmission will be available on DS 3 hatchback and Cabrio models from June 2015.
