Facelifted 2016 Lexus ES Swings By Spain

What is Lexus’ refreshed 2016 ES sedan doing over in Spain these days?

Well, the guys over from Spain’s Motor who shared these pictures of the 2016 ES 250 sedan with us, came up with a couple of theories, including one that says Lexus might be considering to offer the series in Europe, and another claiming it was there for internal use.

We’re leaning towards the latter as the last thing Lexus needs in mainland Europe is a fancy Toyota Camry making an already challenging job of convincing picky European consumers even more difficult.

We’ll add a third scenario of the updated model being there for dealer and company representatives, or perhaps even journalists, from Russia, where the ES is on offer.

The 2016 ES was formally presented at the Shanghai Auto Show just last month as a world premiere featuring a subtle makeover mainly visible at the front, along with new interior color combos and finishes, with certain markets, not including North America, or at least not yet, to get Lexus’ new 2.0-liter and 2.5-liter turbo’d fours.

Finally the DRLs look integrated with the rest of the front elements (headlights and grille) and not just thrown in the front for the sake of it as in other Lexus models. The grille shape is still looking strange to me though.

I like the more aggressive look on this model, but those wheels. Those wheels! Ugh 😣
