Nissan is making sure that F.C Barcelona and Juventus aren’t the only ones that are going to put on a show in Berlin during the UEFA Champions League Final.

This has been Nissan‘s first year sponsoring the UCL and so they thought to obviously end it with a bang on June 6 when Barca and Juve meet on the grass at the Olympiastadion.

The Japanese manufacturer will supply over 100 zero emission vehicles to UEFA and will make sure to install 129 electric car charging stations across the city. The spots chosen for the charging stations are located mainly around Tegel International Airport, a couple of Berlin hotels and the Olympiastadion.

The 100 EVs will obviously include the highly successful LEAF but also the e-NV200, while several of the 129 new charging stations will be left in place so that Berlin EV users will benefit from the improved infrastructure.

Nissan Europe VP of Marketing, Bastien Schupp stated:

“The Final in Berlin will mark the climax of year one of Nissan’s partnership with the UEFA Champions League. The partnership has enabled us to highlight our commitment to EV and bring to life our brand values of Innovation and Excitement,” before adding that he is very happy with the “great relationship we have with UEFA has enabled us to do something lasting and positive for the people of Berlin with the installation of more EV charging points, adding to Nissan’s network, which is already the biggest in Europe.”

Between 3-7 June, Nissan will also host interactive fan experiences at the UCL Festival where fans will get the chance to play 2×2 games in the interactive ‘Football Cage’, showcase their skills in the ‘Performance Maze’ and recreate moments of glory by Nissan ambassadors in the ‘Test Area’.

Speaking of Nissan ambassadors, football (soccer) legend Marco van Basten will be taking on this exact role. If you recall, Van Basten won the competition twice during his career with AC Milan.

The 2014-2015 UEFA Champions League trophy will be transported from the Festival to the Olympiastadion in a custom designed Nissan e-NV200.
