Team Galag Is Ready For Gumball 3000 With A Couple Of Mercs

It’s that time of the year when some rich folks, alongside a few celebrities, get together and…ahem…break the law. I’m talking about the annual – 3000-mile long – Gumball rally.

For those of you who don’t know what a Gumball rally is, allow me to quickly explain: Theoretically, Gumball 3000 is a rally/charity event, in which the teams are required to raise a minimum amount of money for helping others. Since it costs a mere $62,000 to enter the competition, no wonder Gumball 3000 raised over $1 million in charity last year.

Practically, Gumball 3000 is a fun and organized way for rich people to misbehave on public roads behind the wheel of their enticing supercars. Speeding becomes a must, but don’t think for a second they can always get away with it.

This year, the transatlantic journey begins on 23rd of May, in Stockholm – the starting point for over 100 cars – and ends in Las Vegas.

Teams announce what rides they’re going to bring at the party. First to boast was Jon Olsson with his DTM inspired RS6, but there are others with equally impressive cars.
Take Team Galag, for instance. They’re known for racing a Batmobile Tumbler replica in this notorious competition. Not only that, but they also used a McLaren P1 and a classic Shelby Daytona. I’ll take a wild guess and say the Shelby was a replica too, but still!

This year, it seems things are getting more casual for Team Galag, since the cars they’ll be competing in are a couple of Mercs. A C63 Black Series and a SLR McLaren Roadster, to be more specific.

Apparently the C63 will be used for the European route of the journey, while the SLR will be used in a mad dash to the finish line, from Reno to Vegas.
