Robert Llwellyn’s “Fully Charged” online show completely focuses on green technologies, EVs and/or futuristic supporting systems. In this video he talks about traffic jam assist and explains how the system from Bosch works in the real world.

In case you don’t know, traffic jam assist is autonomous driving which has been specially tailored to deal with congested city situations. Naturally, you still have to hover your hands and feet over all of the controls, but as you’ll see in the video, even these early demonstrator system really do work – Llwellyn and the Bosch representative randomly get cut off and the car senses this and stops safely, letting the other car pass.

Basically, with the system you can do something else in stop and go traffic and jams, as well. It keeps up with traffic using a camera and radar, just like any self driving system currently out there and relies on powerful software to make sense of the data it’s gathering from all around.
