2016 Subaru Forester Starts From $22,395*, Gets Starlink Safety And Security

Subaru of America has announced pricing for the 2016 Forester, the brand’s best-selling model in the United States. The base 2016 Subaru Forester 2.5i starts from $22,395, an increase of $200 over the 2015 model (pricing excludes a $850 destination and delivery fee).

Since the SUV was redesigned for the 2014 model year, there aren’t too many updates for 2016. These include new Subaru Starlink Safety and Security features as well as other enhancements. For example, 2016 Forester models equipped with EyeSight now also include Steering-Responsive Fog Lights, which use the fog lights to provide enhanced illumination in the direction of a turn.

The new Subaru Starlink Safety & Security is offered with two packages. The Starlink Safety Plus package includes SOS Emergency Assistance, Enhanced Roadside Assistance, Automatic Collision Notification, Maintenance Notifications, Monthly Vehicle Health Report and Diagnostic Alerts. The Starlink Safety Plus & Security Plus adds Stolen Vehicle Recovery Service, Vehicle Security Alarm Notification, Remote Lock/Unlock, Remote Horn and Lights and Remote Vehicle Locator.

The 2016 Subaru Forester 2.5i model is available in base, Premium, Limited and top-line Touring trims. Standard equipment for the base model includes a tilt/telescopic steering column, Starlink 6.2-inch Multimedia, rear vision camera, Incline Start Assist, security system with engine immobilizer, carpeted floor mats, multi-function display, Bluetooth hands-free phone connectivity and audio streaming with steering wheel control switches and more.

Customers who want more power than the 170hp offered by the base model can opt for the turbocharged Forester 2.0XT, powered by a 250hp 2.0-liter direct-injection turbocharged 4-cylinder Boxer engine. The Forester 2.0XT is offered in Premium and Touring trims. All Foresters come standard with Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard for the 2.5i and 2.5i Premium, with the CVT offered as an option. The CVT is standard on all other 2016 Forester trims.
