It’s not that this Aston Martin DB11 prototype (or DB9 replacement) sounds bad or anything, but it’s quite strange. You can clearly hear the turbo(s) spool and we already have hints that it is a V12.

However, does it sound like Aston’s own or is it an AMG-sourced unit like the one that powers the Mercedes S65?

It is entirely possible that Aston has upgraded its own 6.0-liter V12, the one allegedly made out of two Mondeo ST engines, and fitted it with turbos, but a complete AMG swap sounds more plausible, I think.

Whichever the case, it’s definitely going to be hugely powerful and torqey, as the Mercedes’ engine, for instance, has 612 hp. It won’t be as fast as a One-77, but with weight savings it could be close.
