While prospective buyers couldn’t really care less about the replacement for the Ferrari 458 being turbocharged, some ‘purists’ and members of the press made a big deal out of it. Was it all hype meant to attract attention as the car had little chance of turning out wrong? Yes, totally…

We’ve already heard the engine in action and the tricks they were going to apply to make the turbo unit feel naturally aspirated. Those who drove the revised California T, equipped with a less powerful variant of the same engine, commented that it was much better than its predecessor in every single way, bar the exhaust note which became slightly more muted.

The exact same transformation took place from 458 to 488 as it did from the California to its turbocharged and restyled replacement.

Try any of the reviews we posted below and you’ll see this is the consensus, in spite of people previously ‘being worried’ that it would turn out wrong.
