This latest Corvette Z06 spot comes straight from the Chevrolet Mexico YouTube channel and we must say, it features a very creative way to mix together man and machine.

Let’s start off by clarifying that there was CGI involved. You can clearly see it once the human cannonball is in the air – it wasn’t a real stunt. However, that doesn’t take anything away from how original this spot is and how Chevy decided to use the Corvette’s PDR system in this particular video.

The idea behind this spot was to use the PDR (Performance Data Recorder) in the Corvette Z06 to not just trigger the launch of the human cannonball but to also trigger the safety net.

In order to not screw up any of these parameters, the car had to go through the course (and hit the wires) at just the right speed.

Even though no one’s life was in danger, we can’t help but feel that maybe this could be done in real life..somehow. Of course, real human cannonballs don’t travel such large distances once they’ve been shot out of the cannon, and they certainly don’t exit the cannon at the same time as the “bang”.

Another thing to like regarding this video is the sound of that 650 HP supercharged LT4 unit. It’s brutal enough to scare that cannon into launching its projectile without any wires involved.
