Someone Chopped An Acura NSX Into A Convertible And Is Now Asking $50k For It

There could be a few more out there somewhere, but ultimately, Acura NSX coupes converted into convertibles are rarer than a doctor who cannot stand the sight of blood.

And there are a couple of solid reasons for that: besides the collectability aspect of a model like the NSX, an open top conversion of any vehicle originally designed with a closed roof will ultimately weaken structural rigidity, often regardless if measures have been taken to counteract the effects of removing the roof.

We’ve no idea if and what kind of structural enhancements were added to this NSX to compensate for the loss of structural integrity, as nothing is mentioned in the sales ad from Choice Auto Center in MA.

It doesn’t look bad  with the roof down, but there are no pictures with the “color matching soft top” in place, so we can’t comment on that.

It’s a 1991 NSX with 40,533 miles (65,217 km) on the odo, and at least according to the Carfax, no accident reports. The asking price is $49,995.

H/T to BAT for the find!

Why do people take rare and expensive cars and turn them into garbage convertibles with a percentage of the functionality of the original??? You don’t chop off the roof of your house so you can feel the wind in your hair.

Such a great looking car, wasted.

twist and flex while cornering should make it an interesting drive.

I pray that this was a salvage given I new lease on life…

Having driven a ’91 NSX extensively, the virtues of this car have been exaggerated to mythical proportions. What little there is that’s appealing about this car, lopping the roof off ruins it.

No accidents? The entire roof was torn off!
