Subaru has announced pricing for the 2016 Legacy and Outback models, which have received equipment updates for the new model year.

The 2016 Subaru Legacy 2.5i now starts at $21,745, accounting for an increase of $50 compared to the 2015 model, while the 2016 Outback 2.5i is priced from $24,995, making it $100 more expensive than the 2015 model.

Both prices exclude a $795 destination and delivery fee. Since both models have been redesigned for the 2015 model year, the updates for 2016 are minor.

These include the debut of the new Subaru Starlink Safety and Security features, the addition of the Lane Keep Assist to the EyeSight Driver Assist Technology, an enhanced steering feel for all models and retuned suspension dampers for Limited trims.

Subaru says it has retuned the electric power-assist steering for all Legacy and Outback models to provide “an even more linear and natural feel.” Furthermore, the exclusive Stablex suspension dampers offered on the Legacy Limited have been further refined to “significantly reduce vibration over rough roads, especially those with washboard-texture concrete surfaces.”

For 2016, Subaru’s EyeSight system adds a Lane Keep Assist function, which prevents the car from changing lanes unintentionally. If the EyeSight camera detects the vehicle drifting from the lane, steering assistance control engages to direct the vehicle back into the lane. If the vehicle leaves the lane, Lane Departure Warning is triggered and audible and visual alerts are engaged.

Additionally, on all 2016 models, a new auto on/off mode operates the windshield wipers with the headlights. The Premium and Limited trims now feature the new Subaru Starlink Safety and Security features, offered in two packages. The Starlink Safety Plus includes SOS Emergency Assistance, Enhanced Roadside Assistance, Automatic Collision Notification, Maintenance Notifications, Monthly Vehicle Health Report and Diagnostic Alerts.

The Starlink Safety Plus & Security Plus Package adds Stolen Vehicle Recovery Service, Vehicle Security Alarm Notification, Remote Lock/Unlock, Remote Horn and Lights and Remote Vehicle Locator. The 2016 Subaru Legacy and 2016 Subaru Outback arrive in US dealerships this summer.
