Citroën has released a set of renderings depicting the next-generation C-Quatre budget sedan for the Chinese market.
The sketches definitely look more exciting than the prototype caught testing earlier this year in Europe, but we’re used to official renderings looking better than the actual cars they preview.
Citroën doesn’t currently offer a C4 sedan in Europe and things will remain the same in the future, as the C-Quatre is specifically designed for China, a market that loves sedans.
The upcoming C-Quatre sedan will replace the current model offered in China, which is based on the first-generation European C4 hatchback. The current C-Quatre has not been very successful in China and its dated design may have had something to do with it.
Judging from these official sketches, the new C-Quatre sedan will sport a sleeker look, but it’s profile certainly won’t be as similar to a four-door coupe as the renderings suggest. The model will be based on the old PF2 platform and not on PSA Peugeot Citroën’s new EMP2 architecture. Citroën also sells the C4 L in China, a more upscale compact sedan based on the latest-generation C4 hatchback.
