Costa Smeralda is the most expensive and luxurious destination in Europe, so, you might imagine how a car meet unfolds over there…

We recently wrote an article about a Wraith inspired by Costa Smeralda. The bespoke vehicle was specially manufactured for Rolls Royce’s summer studio in Porto Cervo.

Nonetheless, just 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) away from the extravagant location, a Concorso d’Eleganza unraveled in Polto Qualto. It seems that the Northern part of Sardinia is slowly becoming an oasis of expensive, rare and beautiful motoring culture.

The event took place from Thursday 9 July to Sunday 12 July and it featured a plethora of exquisite automobiles. Anything from rare inter-war Bugattis, all the way to coachbuilt exotica and rally-inspired, homologation-special supercars; I’m talking, of course, about the two-tone Touring Alfa Romeo 2500GT, the baby-blue Bertone Lancia Aprilia and the recognizable Lancia Stratos.

Mind you, the star of the event (and the winner) was a gorgeous Bugatti Type 49. The car is one of only 470 examples built between 1930 and 1934, but what makes more sought after is that the majority were bodied by various coachbuilders and just a handful share common parts.

The occasion was sponsored by Abarth and, as you can see from the photographs, the place was swarmed by the scorpion-badge automobiles.
