Cable network TV Land has pulled reruns of the popular ‘The Dukes of Hazzard’ show from its schedule, following the controversy surrounding the Confederate flag.

This comes after several pictures emerged online, showing the suspect of the Charleston church shooting incident – where nine African Americans were murdered – holding the Confederate flag.

Since one of the show’s stars, a 1969 Dodge Charger – known as the General Lee – bears the controversial battle symbol on its roof, the show was pulled off the air.

Warner Brothers, the original producer of the series, quit merchandising all Dukes of Hazzard products featuring the flag one week after the tragic event.

A statement from Warner Brothers provided to USA Today, said:

“Warner Bros. Consumer Products has one licensee producing die-cast replicas and vehicle model kits featuring the General Lee with the confederate flag on its roof — as it was seen in the TV series. We have elected to cease the licensing of these product categories.”

Other retailers, including Amazon and eBay have stopped selling merchandise showing the flag

The Dukes of Hazzard originally aired on CBS from 1979 to 1985 and followed the adventures of Bo and Luke Duke doing shenanigans in a cool Dodge Charger while running from crooked cops.
