Startech has unveiled a limited edition model based on the Defender as a farewell to the iconic off-roader which will go out of production early next year.

Called the Startech Sixty8 (for the Defender’s 68 years of production), the limited run model will only be built in 68 units worldwide – each based on the Land Rover Defender 110 Station Wagon (either the 5-seater or 7-seater variant).

The Sixty8 gets exterior and interior upgrades that make it stand out not only from standard Defenders but from tuned examples as well.

The vehicle features a paintjob combining a “Corris Grey Metallic” body with a roof painted in contrasting “Santorini Black” and a Startech Series 3.1 vintage design appearance package which reminds of the Land Rover Series 3 built between 1971 and 1984. The Sixty8 also comes with an aluminum underride guard with Sixty8 logo, Startech Monostar D 18 inch alloys and tinted panoramic glazing for all rear windows.

Inside, the tuned Defender sports an exclusive “Tan Light Brown” and “Ebony Black” all-leather interior with ergonomic sports seats, diamond quilting and black contrasting seams. The headliner and the sun visors are covered with fine black Alcantara, with the Sixty8 also featuring a Startech sports steering wheel, stainless-steel scuff plates as well as aluminum components including the shift knob, emergency brake lever and pedals. Standard equipment includes an Alpine multimedia system with 3D navigation and backup camera.

Under the hood, the Startech Sixty8 gets the standard 2.2-liter turbodiesel engine rated at 122PS (120hp) and 360Nm (265lb-ft) of torque. The unit is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox with additional off-road reduction gear and permanent all-wheel drive with inter-axle differential lock. Prices in Germany start from €67,990 ($75,270) for the five-seat model and €69,900 ($77,380) for the 7-seater version.
