The upcoming 2017 E-Class is a very important model for Mercedes-Benz, as it will mark the return of the automaker’s legendary in-line six-cylinder engines.

Codenamed W213, the new E-Class generation will also offer an array of technologies, including autonomous driving systems.

One of these is the optional Remote Parking Pilot, very similar to BMW’s Remote Control Parking technology that has debuted on the all-new 2016 7-Series. Mercedes’ system allows the driver to move the car backwards and forwards into a tight parking space, as well as remotely steer the vehicle in order to avoid obstacles.

There’s a significant difference between the two automakers’ remote parking systems. While BMW drivers control the car with the BMW Display Key, Mercedes drivers can simply do it with a smartphone app. Watch the following official video to see how the system works.
