While this official Renault video focuses on the Zoe, the advice you are going to get applies to any electric vehicle – some of it applies to conventional cars too.

You may be aware that the Renault Zoe has recently received a new electric motor and an updated battery pack that increase driving range to 240 km (149 miles) in ideal conditions.

Obviously, ideal conditions can mainly be found in a lab, so don’t expect to achieve such a driving range in the real world. However, to help owners achieve a driving range as close to the claimed one as possible, Renault offers some practical advice.

First of all, don’t exaggerate with the use of the air conditioning system and heating. Another thing to keep an eye on is speed, because driving fast eats the battery just as quick.

Finally, Renault recommends the use of what we call engine braking, because taking your foot off the accelerator pedal results in regenerative charging of the battery, as does using the brakes. You can find even more specific suggestions in the video based on Zoe’s features such as the Eco Mode or per-programming of temperature.
