The new Hilux is a pretty big deal for Toyota in Asian markets and the Japanese carmaker is wasting no time enhancing the pickup truck with extras and even a study for a TRD sports model.

Presented at the Bangkok International Auto Salon 2015 (from June 24 to 28) in Thailand where the 2016 Hilux enjoyed its world premiere, the Hilux Revo TRD Sport Offroad prototype looks like it’s one-step before production.

As it stands, the only readily available parts on the TRD (Toyota Racing Development) model are the 18-inch black alloy wheels in 265/60 R18 tires, but Toyota is expected to release most other components soon, possibly along with a fully-fledged TRD variant.

The truck on display in Bangkok featured several accessories including a bespoke black grille, a front guard, tailgate spoiler, carbon fiber mirror caps, body graphics, side steps, shift knob, interior trims, offroad suspension, rear stabilizer bar, brake caliper kit, and a sports exhaust system with a carbon fiber pipe.
