The US military is selling off its surplus Humvees as they are being replaced with more modern means of moving men, cargo and weapons around.

However, it’s not immediately apparent how you ca run one of these on the road after you’ve bought it as it has no registration or insurance.

These have to be made from scratch, but that’s only after you’ve written your motivation for wanting a Humvee prior to buying one. If your motivation is deemed satisfactory, you will be given the right to buy one.

You also need to obtain a title for your vehicle, but according to Fox News the way you do that is about to change; it’s going to become much easier, apparently.

These Humvees (1,100 sold since they became available in December 2014 for prices as high as $41,000) exceeded expectations, especially considering the difficult nature of their registration.

As of now, though each one bought from GovPlanet come with a GSA form SF97-1, which basically immediately grants the new owner a title to the vehicle
