If you know your automotive history, then you’re probably aware that Mercedes-Benz has always produced excellent convertibles. The future probably isn’t going to change that.

Of course, we know that the C-Class Cabrio is on its way, and if it looks anything like these renderings (as it should), then we’re probably in for a great ride.

And by that I mean that it looks even more elegant than the Coupe, which is mostly due to the “elongated” look that you get once you put the top down. Anything that can make the C-Class Coupe look longer is greatly appreciated.

Also, we know that it will come with a soft-top – always of a tribute to classic Mercedes-Benz convertibles that paved the way for lots of other car manufacturers looking to replicate that type of success.

In terms of engines, the C-Class Cabriolet will probably have whatever the Coupe “is having”, though it’s unclear if there will ever be a C63 AMG version during this generation’s lifespan.

Now, if you ask me, I’d say that if you configure your C-Class Cabrio as you should, meaning AMG exterior kit, decent-sized wheels and of course a powerful enough engine (let’s say C300), then you will have a clear winner on your hands.

Who knows, Mercedes might even be able to sway those that had no choice but to purchase a 4-Series Cabriolet, only to find out that they would have appreciated a softer ride from time to time.
