Getting a C7 Corvette Z06 to out-gun a Lamborghini Huracan isn’t all that difficult. All you have to do is feed it enough power.

So here’s what we know. This Corvette is a 9-second car which means that it certainly cranks out way more than its standard 650 HP.  How much? 714 WHP and 976 Nm (720 lb-ft) of torque. Oh, and yes we already know about this car.

The Huracan is, of course, not embarrassed, and certainly not afraid of a little American brute force. The baby Lambo has 610 PS and all-wheel drive, which means that it can get from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.2 seconds regardless of how talented the driver is.

In other words, it won’t struggle for grip as it darts off the line.

As the title says, this drag race really is a perfect example of how traction can keep power at bay, at least for a little while – which can still be enough to win a race, depending on distance.

First you get to see the rolling start where for a moment there, the Huracan holds its own quite well, before the Corvette’s muscle flexes and starts pulling away with haste.

Off the line though, the Huracan doesn’t struggle at all for grip and it takes the Z06 about 10 seconds to catch up once it falls behind. That just goes to show how capable the Huracan is, how excellent its transmission is and how power isn’t always everything.

And by the way, how about those “soundtracks”? Naturally aspirated V10 mayhem against supercharged V8 muscle. Amazing how the two completely different noises sort of blend together at one point.
