If camping for you means driving far off the beaten track, as far away from a typical caravan camp site as possible, then the Fiat Ducato 4×4 Expedition should be on your radar. It really does look ready to take you much further than your usual caravan or RV, yet it also has all the convenience of either.

It is still a Ducato van, so the interior is actually reasonably big and quite pleasant looking. Luxurious it is not, but you wouldn’t really mind spending a few days in one provided the surroundings were worth it.

Fiat seems quite proud of it, saying “it’s perfect for sporty, adventurous customers who want to go off the beaten track.”

Modifications that have been operated include the 4×4 system from Dangel, body cladding from Olmedo and the interior fittings and furniture from Tecnoform.

Power comes from a 2.3-liter MultiJet II diesel engine that makes 150 hp. The all-wheel drive is permanent and it also gains an unspecified number of extra inches in ground clearance to enhance its capability.
