Kahn released the first details of the Speed 7, a vintage two-seater inspired by the 1930s GP racers.

The press release says that Kahn wants to create a “retro thoroughbred, perfect for the gentleman racer”, meaning that the Speed 7 won’t be a street-legal car, at least not for now. The aim is “to create a motor car which can be enjoyed on the track without reservation, and would fit in perfectly at vintage one-make race days.”

With that said, it is understood that the Speed 7 is still at an early stage of the production process, with Afzal Kahn inviting discussion with other British companies interested in taking part in the project. All we know so far is that the vintage two-seater is going to use modern engineering and will use aluminium and/or carbon composites for its structure.

This is the third major project that Kahn announces, after the Flying Huntsman series based on the Land Rover Defender and the upcoming WB12 Vengeance which is a bespoke, re-bodied version of Aston Martin’s DB9.

Recreating the raw experience of the legendary vintage racers is certainly not an easy task but we sure are glad someone is going for it.
