Remember last year’s Lada Vesta sedan concept? Well, the Russian automaker has just unveiled a new body style for the Vesta family of concepts, a jacked-up estate called Vesta Cross.

Just like the Vesta sedan, it’s labeled as a concept, even though it’s nothing more than a thinly-veiled production model. Making its debut at the Moscow Off-Road Show 2015, the Lada Vesta Cross Concept previews both the production Vesta estate model and a more rugged version.

Compared with the Vesta sedan study, the Cross model has a raised ground clearance and black plastic body cladding. The front end is identical, while the rear end sports very similar taillights. The interior is also sourced from the sedan.

The Lada Vesta Cross Concept is based on the “Lada B” platform that was co-developed with AvtoVaz’s parent company Renault-Nissan. In other words, it’s based on the Renault-Nissan B architecture used by models like the Nissan Micra and Juke, Dacia Logan and Datsun Go.

The Lada Vesta concept vehicles preview a new family of production models, with the Vesta sedan being the first to enter production at the end of September. The Vesta estate is expected to launch next year, with a Vesta Cross version likely to arrive later on.

The engine lineup for the Vesta family will include new gasoline units ranging from 87hp to 114hp.
