Mazda Koeru Is A New Crossover Concept That Will Debut In Frankfurt

The Frankfurt Motor Show will host the world debut of the Mazda Koeru, a new crossover SUV concept.

Taking its name from Japanese, Koeru means “exceed” or “go beyond,” which Mazda believes is a fitting name for its latest venture in the growing crossover SUV market. The automaker didn’t mention any production plans, but said it is “looking to surpass existing standards and raise the bar for performance, efficiency and overall value” with the Koeru.

The first sketch of the study reveals the familiar KODO – Soul of Motion design language, emphasized by the grille, sleek headlights and flowing wheel arches. Mazda says the Koeru “expresses the power and vitality of a predator along with a unique level of refined dignity.”

Judging from the dynamic silhouette of the concept, the low roofline and the similar front end to the CX-3 small SUV, it may preview a sportier version of the latter model which could be called CX-4. Expect more details as we get closer to the model’s debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show (September 17-27).
