You know what was missing lately? A factory bespoke Rolls-Royce.

Lucky for us, Rolls’ bespoke program doesn’t sleep and it came up with a brand-new Roller inspired from… something completely random. No, really, sometimes we think these guys are up 24/7 trying to mass produce bespoke models – which sounds like an oxymoron.

This time, the car manufacturer from Goodwood decided it was time to celebrate “music” with a one-of-a-kind Wraith and although we’ve seen our share of custom-built Rollers, the Brits never ceases to amaze us with their attention to detail, built quality and design.

Moreover, you might think the music that inspired this particular automobile is the one conceived by “the great composers” of the classical era, but the Wraith was actually fashioned from the sounds of Rock & Roll. Rock yeah! Many people forget that Rolls – Royce, believe it or not, was an ambassador of the early days of Rock ‘n’ Roll, when some of the greatest rock stars rebelled against classic morals, fashion and standards, while driving the car tailored specifically for those principles – which sounds like an oxymoron, as well.

That’s because Rolls-Royce was always considered the ultimate affirmation of success, the ultimate accessory for everybody who was/is somebody. Still, thanks to its affiliation to rocks stars and their particular music genre, the British car maker has become, over time, one of the coolest brands in the world. Elvis Presley owned one, Nick Mason owned… some and so did Jay Kay, John Lenon, Elton John and the list can go on and on. Oh, and Keith Moon drove one into a pool.

Anyway, this Wraith comes with a plethora of bespoke elements which celebrate the golden years of Rock. With a Lyrical Copper exterior paint finish – no, really, that’s what the color is called – and with a blend of brushed and polished textures on the interior, the car elegantly hints the copper use in the best, high-end audio systems. All in all, the car has a motif and some additional re-designed elements which emphasize it, right?

Well, basically yes, although the car features an overhauled audio system, crafted by a team of the world’s very best automotive audio engineers. The development process lasted two years and ensured that the system was perfectly tuned with the interior of the cabin. Moreover, the pursuit of aural perfection was so important, the interior designers had to consult with the Chief Audio Engineer before making any changes. Still, the modifications are for the eyes of Rolls-Royce connoisseurs only, as the re-imagined speaker grilles are subtle and gorgeous.

The clarity of sound and the dynamic range is optimized thanks to a 1300W, 18 channel system comprising two highly powerful bass speakers, seven tweeters and seven mid-range speakers. Not only that, but two “exciter” speakers are hand fitted in the car’s headlining to bring the sound to the listeners ear-level, while microphones constantly monitor ambient and exterior noises in order to adjust the volume and tone setting accordingly and to ensure that no external sound finds its way into the cabin.

That said, this Wraith is probably the most expensive speaker theater available on the market.
