The 1951 – 1954 Kaiser Darrin is a very strikingly curvy sports car that predates the Corvette. It even beat it in using fiberglass as a material for the body, and the list of cool facts doesn’t end here.

The car, of which only some 435 examples were made, had other innovations like sliding doors or an impact-friendly padded dashboard. The doors aren’t your typical sliders, though – they don’t in any way protrude outward, as they actually slide into the body.

The Darrin was powered by a 2.6 liter straight-six with just 90 hp. It was outclassed by many other sports cars of the day, even if it wasn’t itself a bad car to drive.
