Along with the European-spec model, the 2016 Nissan Leaf sold in the US will be available with the new 30 kWh battery as well.

The new battery provides an EPA-estimated range of 107 miles (172 km) – a 27-percent increase over the 24 kWh battery. The 30 kWh battery is offered as standard for Leaf SV and Leaf SL models.

The 2016 Nissan Leaf has a starting price of $34,200 (*) or $26,700 after the federal tax credit of $7,500 for the SV model, and from $36,790 or $29,290 for Leaf SL after the federal tax credit.

Nissan will continue to sell Leaf S models with the 24 kWh battery and an EPA-estimated range of 84 miles (135 km). The 2016 Nissan Leaf S grade starts from $29,010 or $21,510 after the federal tax incentive.

Besides the new battery, the 2016 Leaf also offers an enhanced infotainment system that is said to be more user-friendly and to offer greater connectivity. 2016 Nissan Leaf S models get the NissanConnect with Mobile Apps system including Bluetooth Hands-free Phone System, Streaming audio via Bluetooth, Hands-free Text Messaging Assistant and USB connection port for iPod interface and other compatible devices.

SV and SL grades get the more advanced NissanConnect with Navigation and Mobile Apps, which includes a 7.0-inch color display with multi-touch control, Nissan Voice Recognition for navigation and audio, HD radio and SiriusXM Travel Link for weather, fuel prices, movie listings, stock info and sports.

Finally, for 2016 the Nissan Leaf offers three new exterior colors: Forged Bronze, Coulis Red and Deep Blue Pearl.
