It looks like Cadillac knows how to throw a party. The luxury automaker pulled one of the best publicity stunts of the year on Wednesday night, flying the all-new XT5 SUV across the Hudson River to make it visible for guests at a New York Fashion Week party.

For the first time in 15 years authorities have allowed cargo shipments in the airspace above Manhattan, as Cadillac hired a military-grade helicopter to carry the XT5 on a platform across the Hudson River. Police shut down the West Side Highway for the stunt.

The party celebrated Cadillac’s recently-announced partnership with fashion brand Public School.

The XT5 will be once again showed in November in Dubai, where Public School will have its first international runway show. The car will also drop by the Dubai Motor Show and will later have its North American auto show debut in Los Angeles.
