The ultimate Escalade is allegedly coming; run!

We knew the luxury auto maker was contemplating about adding a Mr. Hyde version to the… already monstrous Escalade line-up. Still, rumors are getting serious as Jonny Lieberman of Motor Trend tweeted that the automobile is on the way.

Not only that, but the magazine expects the behemoth to arrive sporting a – get this – supercharged 6.2-litre LT4 V8 under the hood. That’s the same powerplant found on the Corvette Z06; the same found on the CTS-V. That means the upcoming Escalade should wield at least 640hp and 630 lb-ft of torque.

Furthermore, the Caddy is expected to debut as soon as next year’s New York auto show and will likely be $15,000 more expensive than a “standard” model.

Now, in my humble opinion, Cadillac deserves a gargantuan, pointless package, especially on the Escalade. The marque has always been associated with…lack of moderation, providing the ultimate, excess-driven automobiles, but in the last decade (or so), only some concept-cars they previewed lived up to the Cadillac name.

So, yeah, stick a 6.2-litre V8, Corvette-sourced engine under the Escalade’s bonnet, Cadillac. In fact, stick a V16 to make it worth your while. Daydreaming aside, if this information turns out to be correct, then the Escalade will be the most powerful SUV ever, overshadowing the newly launched Bentley Bentayga.
